Numbers-Lesson 2: 1~99 in sino-Korean numbers

In Korean, we have different words for numbers.

They are originated from Chinese.

And these ones are used for different purposes.

1 일  11 십일

2 이  12 십이

3 삼  13 십삼

4 사  14 십사

5 오  15 십오

6 육  16 십육

7 칠  17 십칠

8 팔  18 십팔

9 구  19 십구

10 십 20 이십

You just need to know from one to ten and for greater numbers you just put them together.

For example, 27 이십칠, 99 구십구

These number words are used when you are talking about time, but only for minutes and seconds, not for hours.

10 minutes 십 분

35 seconds 삼십오 초

when you talk about hours, you use the words in Number lesson 1.

하나(한), 둘(두), 셋(세), 넷(네), 다섯, 여섯, 일곱, 여덟, 아홉, 열

1 o’clock 한 시

12 o’clock 열두 시

EXERCISE

11:53 열한 시 오십삼 분
